This post is about specific meetings at your
home site that take place during the
construction process. The goal of these meetings
are for us to learn your wishes and thoughts. Also
very critical is that we gain your approval
of our efforts to date.
Below is a summary of the on-site meetings:
1. Site plan review - We want to walk the home site with you prior to construction. It is important that we understand your vision for the site. Perhaps you want to be able to take advantage of a certain view while you relax watching football games every Sunday. We want to know that upfront.
2. Rough In Walkthrough - This meeting takes place AFTER your home is framed (walls and roof in place), but before plumbing, heating and electrical components are installed. At this meeting, we review all completed framing elements and we dream about the "finish" elements - cabinets, trim, flooring, etc..
Dreaming is only a part of it really. At this point, we know what "finishes" you have selected for your home and we verify that those decisions remain valid in your mind.
3. Pre-Trim Inspection - This is an important step. We want to walk through your house together after the drywall is complete and as we begin to install the trim and final finishes in your home. A great meeting!
4. Final Walkthrough - The purpose of this meeting is to go through your home prior to you moving in and validate that we built your home according to the plan and quality specifications established prior to construction.
There is no such thing as a punch list! Your home should be delivered on time with all items completed. How often do you buy a car with only 3 wheels? "Oh, that fourth one has been ordered and we will let you know when it arrives." I think not!
That is how we do it!
There are other meetings, much less formal though. We want our customers to visit the jobsite frequently. We want their feedback. We want to see the excitement in their eyes and, likewise, we want to know if there is something we can do to improve. We aren't perfect. We don't claim to be, we just try to be!
Building a home is a great experience!
